Hannah Shergold’s solo exhibition in support of wildlife conservation charity Tusk

Hannah Shergold brings her unique style to the Mall Galleries as she sets out to raise an eye-watering £100,000 for Tusk, the charity for which she has recently been named an ambassador, and to which Prince William is Royal Patron. Hannah was also a competitor in the 2019 series of Sky Arts 'Portrait Artist of the Year'.Hannah’s new body of work, The Sovereign Collection, sees movement and energy breathed into her wildlife subject matter. A sprinting cheetah is caught in timelapse as it sprints across the canvas in a shock of hot pink and gold leaf. A lion family laps from a metallic pool of metal leaf, caught in a golden evening light. Hannah’s contrast of anatomical accuracy with unnatural colour and geometric line and shape brings a new take on how an artist can bring life to these wonderful animals.

The Process

About Hannah Shergold

Hannah Shergold is a Cambridge University Zoology graduate and an ex-army helicopter pilot. Inspired by her time spent in Kenya flying medical evacuations in 2016, Hannah initially took up watercolour painting before switching to oils. Her technique uses palette knives and thick impasto paint to create a layered effect in her work, forcing the viewer to disregard the abnormal and invent the expected. Since leaving the Armed Forces in 2018 Hannah has already raised over £200,000 for charity through the sale of her art. Hannah lives and works in Cheltenham, UK.
