Sponsored by global bank ING, the ING Discerning Eye has been a key part of the British art scene for 26 years. The annual exhibition features small-scale artworks selected by six figures from the art world: two artists, two collectors, and two critics.
This year’s selectors are artists Adebanji Alade and Nina Murdoch, collectors Carol Leonard and Gabrielle Blackman, and critics Paul Carey-Kent and Will Gompertz. Each selector independently curates their own section, creating six mini-exhibitions within the larger show. This approach guarantees there will be something for every visitor, with a wide range of styles and mediums to discover.
Out of thousands of submissions from artists across the UK, each of the 6 selectors handpicks works they feel represents the best in British art today. They also invite artists they know and love to take part in the exhibition alongside those selected in the nationwide open call. This mix allows visitors to see works by both established artists and discover emerging talents.
Visitors to the ING Discerning Eye will enjoy a rich display of contemporary art and a daily programme of artist demonstrations. The exhibition offers a chance to discover new talents and appreciate a diverse range of artworks.
Contemporary art matters. It reflects and reveals our world. But it needs a platform from which to speak. The ING Discerning Eye is a space and a place that provides that vital platform.

ING & The Discerning Eye: Partners for 25 Years
I’ve been attending the ING Discerning Eye exhibition for over 20 years and I think it’s the most exciting, diverse and powerful collection of works you can get to see in the year. It’s a visual treat!
