Pastel Society Annual Exhibition 2023
Alongside the rich diversity of pastel paintings on display in the Pastel Society’s 124th annual exhibition, there will be a variety of works in other dry media: charcoal, conté, oil pastels, graphite, and coloured pencils.
As ever, the exhibition will feature new works by members of the Society and artists selected from an international open call. Unique to this year, however, is a special focus on ‘Pastel without Boundaries’.
To quote the Society's President, Richard Rees: “Drawing and painting can provide a time to reflect and lose ourselves in a creative process. As one of the great exponents of pastel, Paula Rego, once said, 'Art is the only place you can do what you like. That's freedom.' Pastel and similar dry media are the most direct way we can express our thoughts and whether on their own or in combination with other media, it has infinite possibilities.”
