Spotlighting Women Artists

For many years the SWA has contributed to the Breast Cancer Now Charity and at each year’s exhibition the SWA offers a special evening for BCN to host their own fundraising event with contributions from sales on the night and an auction of works donated by members of the Society.
The Society also runs a special Event supporting their Young People’s Art Initiative. This year it will be on Tuesday 24th June 6pm - 8.30pm where Dora Bertolluti, professional photographer and wife of the late Ken Howard OBE RA, will open the Evening’s proceedings, alongside guest speaker Lisa Carrodus of Circles of Art, a main sponsor of the SWA. Please see the SWA Website for information re tickets.
The SWA is a very historic and important society. It was founded in 1855 by courageous and talented women who were unable to exhibit in the male-dominated culture they were born into. Every generation of women since has taken the baton and run with it with an energy and determination that comes through in their vibrant and eclectic work today.
"The SWA continues to promote women artists and prides itself on the very diverse nature of the work shown during our Annual Open Exhibition from both our non-members and our members."
