Chris Myers RBA PRI

Bio

Chris Myers PRI RBA was born in London and studied at Maidstone College of Art.

Following a successful career in London as the co-founder of a design agency, Chris currently works from his studio as a painter and illustrator, using watercolour as his primary medium.

Chris became a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 2006, and was elected a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in 2009 where he has served on the Council since 2017.

Chris was elected President of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in 2022.

Chris has exhibited in many London shows over the years, particularly at the Mall Galleries, Gallery Different, Thompsons Gallery and the Bankside Gallery. He also exhibited for two consecutive years at the Goodwood Revival and the Festival of Speed, as well as at the Henley Regatta, Lloyd’s Registry, the Kent Painters Group, the Ruth Borchard Self Portrait Exhibition at Kings Place London and in China at the Shenzhen International Watercolour Biennial Exhibition.

Chris has held several one-man shows and has been the subject of several press articles in magazines, including ‘The Artist’, ‘Watercolor Artist’, ‘Classic and Sports Car’ and ‘Octane’.

He has won several awards including the ‘Smith & Williamson Cityscape’ prize in the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, the ‘Matt Bruce RI Memorial Award’ and also ‘The Artist’ prize at the RWS Open Exhibition on two occasions.

Travel, Classic Cars and Music have been abiding passions for Chris. He has travelled widely to gain inspiration and subject matter for his works. He is a regular visitor to Goodwood and the Le Mans Classic.

In 2017 Chris participated in the Samurai Challenge classic car rally, the first competitive UK organised rally to travel the length of Japan. This trip resulted in a number of paintings and illustrations.

Chris regularly carries out private commissions from his studio at his home in East Sussex, where he lives with his wife, Lynda. They also spend time in rural Normandy where they have had a small cottage for many years.
