I am a landscape painter, inspired by my travels abroad, most recently to India and South Africa. Most of my images are taken directly form the subject, but every now and then I return to the studio and produce larger images based on my direct experience and sketched studies. Many happy hours are spent painting in the local allotments and on the banks of the River Thames. I also spend a lot of time on my canal boat in Oxfordshire, which has been converted into a floating studio.
Methodology
I like to paint from life, directly from the subject in the outdoors. My subjects are my surrounding and I am inspired by landscapes and environments. I work generally in oils or tempera on canvas and produce larger works in the studio, using preliminary paintings for guidance and inspiration.
