Methodology
While Daniel Cole's primary subject is the natural world, he possesses a specific sensitivity to observing and sketching wild birds. Predominantly using oil paint, Cole works by producing sketches in the field and later using them as a reference in the studio for his paintings, allowing him to experiment with both texture and colour.
Bio
Cole currently lives in Truro, Cornwall, and works in The Old Bakery Studios. Many of his works now also appear in field guides.
Scholarships, Awards, Prizes
Cole has won several awards, including the PJC Award for drawing, Bird illustrator of the Year 2000, RSPB Fine Art award, Dry Red Press and The Swarovski/Birdwatch Artist of the year in 2016.
