Geoffrey Huband has wide range of interests. He also enjoys sailing his 42 foot yacht with his family in the Mediterranean whenever the opportunity presents, currently in the Ionian.
Geoffrey works mainly to commission and at the present time his focus is on national and international exhibitions.
Bio
English artist Geoffrey Huband was born in Worcestershire in 1945 and studied at Stourbridge College of Art and Victoria College, Manchester University, graduating in 1967.
He taught for four years and then moved to Cornwall to paint full time.
In 1994 he gained a Bsc Hons. from Exeter University.
He is best known for his cover art on the novels of Douglas Reeman and Alexander Kent.
He exhibited in the UK and Spain also with the Royal Society of Marine Artists, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, The Royal Institute of Water Colour Artists and with Mystic Seaport Gallery, Connecticut since 2002.
He was employed by “Warner Brothers” as a Concept Artist on the feature film Harry Potter 4 “The Goblet of Fire” where he conceived and designed the “Durmstrang Ship”.
His work has been commissioned by “National Geographic” He has also been the featured artist in “Classic Boats”, “Traditional Boats and Tall Ships” as well as “Shipwright International Annual of Maritime History”
His most recent awards have been The “Award of Excellence” from the Maritime Gallery, Mystic Seaport in 2009 and the “Conway Maritime Award” from the RSMA in 2012.
Proposed as a Candidate for the Royal Society of Marine Artists in 2014.
