Peter's style is bold and vigorous, both in the use of colour and the handling of paint as he explores the effects of light on my subject, seeking atmosphere through light and colour.
Methodology
Peter has always been attracted to coasts and seascapes in general, as he loves the sense of infinity and endless searching that they give him. The subject of his next work will usually come to Peter when he is out by the sea, feeling at one with the nature and its elements, and at this time he knows what direction the composition will take. Back in his studio the painting begins to take shape in reality, and he aims to recreate both what she has seen and his own emotional response to it. Peter prefers to paint in oils as he finds that this is the medium most adaptable to changes of light and mood.
Bio
Peter Wileman has worked in the field of art and design for over forty-five years. Painting since childhood, after leaving school Peter joined a Studio as a Junior for Hallmark Cards, studying lettering and design which gave him a solid grounding in colour awareness and formal structure. He then became Art Editor on a number of IPC magazines, until finally tiring of the rat-race and becoming a freelance illustrator. Working freelance gave him the opportunity to concentrate on my painting, giving me the freedom to develop his work.
