James Hague RP
James Hague is a London based artist who studied Fine Art at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle and the Royal College of Art. In 1996, he won the BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery in London. He was the recipient of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters RP Award (2019) and the Ondaatje Prize for Portraiture (2018).
Other prizes for painting include: 2014 Ismet Mujezinović Portrait Prize (Bosnia), 2013 Portrait Now! Brewer J.C.Jacobsen’s Portrait Award (Denmark), 2006 Lynn-Painter Stainers Prize (UK), 2004 Royal College of Art Amlin Painting Prize (UK) and 2004 Royal College of Art Stanley Smith Scholarship (UK).
James is part of the faculty of The Heatherley School of Fine Art, and a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and Contemporary British Portrait Painters.
Sir Michael Caine
As a winner of the prestigious BP Portrait Award by the National Portrait Gallery, James was commissioned in 1998 for a portrait of Sir Michael Cane. The portrait is part of the NPG's 'Primary Collection'.
