Work Experience
The course’s students are required to undertake a minimum of twenty days’ work experience with a museum or related organisation as a compulsory and assessed part of their degree. Students present a reflective interpretation of their experience, and are assessed on it, following their placement.
For its internship, the Federation offers a tailored placement within its Commissions department as it works towards the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition at Mall Galleries in May.
The successful candidate liaises with the exhibiting artists to create portfolios, biographies, and other important information about their work in advance of the exhibition. They contribute to the marketing campaign with research and writing too.
The placement offers the rare opportunity to see behind-the-scenes of a nationally regarded exhibition, and experience the inner workings of a nationally recognised fine art commissions service.
