Sue Read RI
Methodology
Read's still life paintings are usually quite small. She uses pure watercolours, building up colours and tones in transparent layers while always working in natural light. Read likes to paint objects that are translucent, transparent or lustrous - porcelain bowls, some very old, lustreware jugs, mother of pearl shells, little white eggs [given to her years ago and blown so she can keep them], enamelware and glass, sometimes adding a tiny bottle of flowers.
